Wiggin and Dana Welcomes Intellectual Property Partner Pierre R. Yanney

Pierre R. Yanney is joining the New York office of Wiggin and Dana as a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group and as Chair of the Patent Prosecution Group.

“Pierre’s work as a patent lawyer is well known to us,” said Gregory Rosenblatt, head of the Patent Prosecution team. “His background and skills mix elegantly with our practice and lend further support to the competitive patent assessments that are critical to protecting our clients’ rights and businesses.”

Wiggin’s IP group handles domestic and global patent, copyright, trademark, trade secret and proprietary technology protection matters. The team is comprised of more than 20 transactional, litigation, patent and trademark attorneys, many with hard science credentials, with extensive IP know-how, business experience and in-depth technical knowledge in key industries.

Yanney joins Wiggin with more than 25 years of experience as a patent attorney as well as training and high-level technical experience as an engineer. He has appeared before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, scoring wins for clients ranging from a disposable email address service to one of the largest elevator companies in the world. Yanney has worked with an array of technologies including RFID systems, medical electronics and devices, electronic control systems, and semiconductor devices.

Yanney was previously a partner at Bressler Amery & Ross, and started his legal career at the Intellectual Property boutique, Darby & Darby. Prior to beginning his legal career, he worked as a Member of Technical Staff at AT&T Bell Laboratories.

Yanney received a J.D. from Rutgers University School of Law (with honors; Order of the Coif) and a S.M. and S.B. in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
