Veteran Energy Attorney John Thomas Joins Frost Brown Todd as Partner

John Thomas, a veteran transactional attorney with more than 20 years of experience in corporate, oil, and gas law, has joined Frost Brown Todd as a partner in the firm’s Private Equity & Venture Capital practice. He will be based in the firm’s Houston office.

Thomas previously served as general counsel for multiple public and private equity-backed energy companies and most recently practiced at Grable Martin. His experience spans mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financings, joint ventures, oil and gas operations, and corporate governance. He also offers outsourced general counsel services to small and mid-sized businesses.

His addition is expected to expand Frost Brown Todd’s capabilities in energy law across Texas and nationally. The firm cited his industry knowledge from upstream operations to midstream infrastructure as a key asset for its client base.

Thomas has been active in professional groups, including the Texas General Counsel Forum and the Association of International Energy Negotiators. He has been recognized by Texas magazine and the Houston Business Journal, and contributed to the Crimson Exploration–Contango Oil & Gas merger, which was honored as a Transaction of the Year by Oil & Gas Financial Journal.

Frost Brown Todd has over 600 attorneys across 14 offices nationwide, serving clients in various industries, including energy, financial services, real estate, and technology.
