Recent Wind Technology Advances: Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach

DOEThe U.S. Department of Energy has made available a free on-demand webinar on recent wind technology advances resulting in an increase in potentially deployable areas and future implications for wind deployment in low-wind-speed areas.

The presentation is part of the DOE’s Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach initiative.

Owen Roberts, an engineer at the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, presented on the current state of turbine technology, new methodology, and new state wind maps developed to reflect the current state of the science.

Simon Mahan of the Southern Alliance for Clean Energy discussed the impact that modern and future turbines may have on the Southeast and lessons learned from ongoing projects.

Aaron Barr from MAKE Consulting discussed the future of low-wind-speed technology, current technology trends, and projections for the future.
