Redgrave LLP Adds Adam Cohen

Adam I. Cohen has joined Redgrave LLP as a partner in New York.

In a release, the firm said Cohen is certified as an Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), a Cloud Security Professional (CCSP), and an Ethical Hacker (CEH). He works with cybersecurity, digital forensics and eDiscovery, data privacy, information governance, and records management.

Regulatory and Criminal Investigations Lawyer Sara George to Join Sidley in London

Sara George will join Sidley Austin LLP in London as a partner in its Securities and Derivatives Enforcement and Regulatory practice. George was previously a partner at Stephenson Harwood LLP and prior to that, served as a prosecutor for the Financial Services Authority (FSA).

In a release, the firm said George has experience in international regulatory and criminal investigations, particularly in the financial services sector. She advises clients on a variety of matters, including accusations of involvement in regulatory contraventions, market abuse, insider trading, money laundering, fraud, corruption and bribery. The firm said she is recognized for having brought landmark cases, including the first criminal prosecution by the FSA against a director for misleading the market, and the first Listing Rule contravention.

As a criminal barrister, George advocated before the Financial Services Tribunal, the Regulatory Decisions Committee of the Financial Conduct Authority, and the Crown Court and the Court of Appeal. She also has led numerous criminal and regulatory investigations involving the Securities and Exchange Commission, the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and the Department of Justice.

Opitz earned her undergraduate degree from Binghamton University and her law degree from Mercer University School of Law.

Lauren Raines Joins Bradley’s Tampa Office

Perkins Coie Adds Insurance Recovery Partner Jim Davis in Chicago

James (Jim) M. Davis has joined Perkins Coie’s Insurance Recovery practice as a partner in Chicago, the firm announced in a release.

Littler Expands Indy Office with Associate Hire

Peter T. Tschanz has joined Littler as an associate in the Indianapolis office. He joins from Bingham Greenebaum Doll LLP.

Labor Attorney Mark Keenan Joins Barnes & Thornburg in Atlanta

Barnes & Thornburg has added Mark Keenan as a partner in the firm’s Labor and Employment Department in the Atlanta office.

In a release, the firm said Keenan advises management on complex workforce issues, with an emphasis on union avoidance campaigns and matters before the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB). His experience spans several industries, including financial services, healthcare, manufacturing and construction.

He has guided employers through collective bargaining negotiations; traditional labor cases before federal courts of appeal; and the implementation of employee retention strategies, the release said.

Keenan is the latest addition to the firm’s Atlanta office, which also just added commercial and IP litigator Christina Baugh. Previously, Keenan was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough LLP.

Former Texas Justice Jennifer Caughey Joins Jackson Walker

Jackson Walker has added Jennifer Caughey as a partner in its Houston office. A civil litigator and former justice on the Texas First Court of Appeals, Caughey will co-chair the appellate section of Jackson Walker’s Trial & Appellate Litigation practice.

Former Texas Appellate Justice Craig Stoddart Joins The Pettit Law Firm

The Pettit Law Firm announced that former Texas Court of Appeals Justice Craig Stoddart has joined the commercial and real estate litigation boutique as senior counsel.

Stoddart served on the 5th District Court of Appeals in Dallas from 2014-2018. He presided over 1,300 cases and authored more than 400 opinions, many involving complex commercial cases.

He also represented the state of Texas in more than 140 appellate prosecutions before joining the Court of Appeals.

Sidley Adds Environmental Partner Laurence S. Kirsch in Washington, D.C.

Laurence S. Kirsch has joined Sidley Austin LLP in Washington, D.C., as a partner in its Environmental practice. He joins Sidley from Goodwin Procter LLP, where he chaired the firm’s Energy and Environment practice.

In a release, the firm said Kirsch, a litigator, focuses his practice on environmental matters involving contaminated sites, sediments, hazardous waste, toxic substances regulation, vapor intrusion, natural resource damages, environmental cost allocation proceedings, and environmental issues in bankruptcy proceedings. He has experience with federal statutes, particularly the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act (CERCLA or Superfund), the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act, and related state laws. On the transactional side, Kirsch regularly counsels businesses on the environmental implications of real estate and corporate organizations and transactions. Employee Benefits and Tax Lawyer Thomas Cryan Rejoins Miller & Chevalier

Miller & Chevalier Chartered announced that Thomas M. Cryan, Jr. rejoined the firm as a member in the Employee Benefits Department. Cryan, who practiced at Miller & Chevalier from 2008 to 2012, joined the firm from Littler Mendelson P.C.

He has worked with regulatory matters relating to broker-dealers, investment advisors, indices and credit-rating agencies.

Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Boresta was a director at Gibbons P.C. His past experiences also include serving as vice president and associate general counsel for global regulatory affairs at S&P Global; and as a partner at Winston & Strawn LLP.

Boresta received his J.D. from Fordham Law School and his Bachelor of Arts from Rutgers College.

The firm said Reahl has more than three decades of experience in the design and administration of health and welfare, fringe benefit retirement, and compensation programs under ERISA and the Internal Revenue Code. Reahl also has represented clients in benefits-related matters pertaining to mergers, spin-offs and acquisitions.

Prior to joining FisherBroyles, Reahl spent over 25 years in practice at TDR Consulting. He also was an attorney at Warner Lambert and LeBoeuf, Lamb, Lieby & MaCrae.

Jennifer Adams joins Hogan Lovells from Koch in Texas

Jennifer Adams has joined Hogan Lovells‘ Houston office as a partner in its Environment and Natural Resource practice. Adams joins the firm from Koch Companies Public Sector, where she has served as chief counsel of litigation for the last eight years.

“We are delighted that Jennifer has agreed to join Hogan Lovells,” said Bruce Oakley, office managing partner in Hogan Lovells Houston Office. “We expect her arrival to create an immediate impact on our environmental practice in Texas.”

In a release, Adams has experience handling environmental litigation and commercial disputes. She has spent the last eight years focusing on complex environmental matters throughout the U.S., including in air, water, and soil disputes, indemnification issues, and other environmental events.

Prior to her role at Koch, Adams spent the first nine years of her legal career at Baker Botts. She received her B.A. from Stephen F. Austin State University in 1999, and her J.D. from Baylor Law School in 2002.

 

 




Sidley Adds Energy Team in New York and D.C.

Sidley Austin LLP announced the addition of Tara Higgins and Noreen Phelan as partners, and Chris Hutchison as a senior associate, to its global Energy and Infrastructure practice.

Higgins is based in Sidley’s New York office, and Phelan and Hutchison are based in Sidley’s Washington, D.C. office. They joined from Orrick, where Higgins was co-head of the global Power practice and Phelan was a partner in the Energy and Infrastructure practice.

Freeborn Adds Employment Partner Erin McAdams

Erin E. McAdams has joined Freeborn & Peters LLP’s Chicago office as a partner in the Litigation Practice Group, focusing on employment litigation and counseling.

R. Craig Mayfield Named Managing Partner of Bradley’s Tampa Office

R. Craig Mayfield has been named managing partner of Bradley Arant Boult Cummings LLP’s Tampa office.

He succeeds Robert B. Glenn, who had served as the Tampa managing partner since his firm Glenn Rasmussen joined with Bradley in 2015 to establish the firm’s Tampa office. Glenn is retiring and will serve the firm in a retired partner capacity, the firm said in a release.

Jackson Walker Adds Jon Bull to Environment & Natural Resources Practice in Dallas

Jackson Walker announced the addition of Jonathan M. Bull as a partner in the Dallas office.

In a release, the firm said Bull brings to the Chambers USA-ranked Environment & Natural Resources practice substantial experience handling environmental issues encountered in land development and construction, manufacturing, and commercial operating sectors, including transactional due diligence and counseling in corporate or asset purchases and sales, operations regulatory compliance counseling and management systems, property assessment, cleanup and redevelopment under state and federal regulatory programs, and government enforcement defense and litigation.

In his practice, Bull regularly counsels land development and construction clients on state and federal requirements regulating stormwater discharges, wetlands and jurisdictional waters, dust emissions, and protected species and resources. Jon has also counseled and represented industrial, commercial, manufacturing, pharmaceutical, and aerospace clients in environmental cleanup, cost recovery, and contribution litigation under CERCLA, RCRA, the Texas Solid Waste Disposal Act, and other state analogues and in coverage disputes under environmental insurance policies.

He started his environmental career working as a hydrogeologist with a national engineering and environmental consulting company.
