Global M&A and Private Equity Partner Joins Sidley in Century City

Sidley Austin LLP is pleased to announce that Stephen Ballas has joined the firm’s Global M&A and Private Equity practice in Century City. Prior to joining Sidley, Mr. Ballas was a corporate and M&A partner at DLA Piper.

Mr. Ballas has significant experience in strategic and financial-sponsor M&A and investment transactions, capital markets, SEC reporting, public company and investment firm corporate governance and compliance, internal control remediation, stock exchange listing and delisting proceedings, M&A-related U.S. national security reviews, and investor litigation. He has advised companies with global operations across multiple sectors and industries, including those in investment management, technology, media and entertainment, aviation, maritime, satellite telecommunications, and real estate services. He has advised SEC registrants, as well as NYSE- and NASDAQ-listed companies.

In addition to his experience at law firms, Mr. Ballas has served in executive and senior management positions at publicly traded companies. He was executive vice president, general counsel, and corporate secretary at Global Eagle Entertainment, a NASDAQ-listed satellite-connectivity, technology, and media and entertainment company. He also served as a senior vice president and deputy general counsel at CBRE Group, an NYSE-listed Fortune 500 real-estate-services company, where he supervised its M&A and strategic investment, SEC reporting, capital markets, and corporate governance matters.
